SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encrypts data between browsers and servers to ensure security. HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Secure Protocol) is the secure version of HTTP, which uses SSL/TLS for encryption. When you see “https://” along with a lock icon, it means that SSL/TLS encryption is enabled. SSL/TLS provides the encryption mechanism, while HTTPS indicates that this protocol is being used.
